THE HISTORY OF OTEŠEVO
and the Lakeview Hotel
While the village of Oteševo, hidden a short distance within the National Park Galichica, is nowadays nothing more than a weekend getaway for a handful of households, the lakeside tourist destination was once a well known and prominent attraction throughout Former Yugoslavia and Europe.
The Lakeview Hotel itself was originally built in the late 1950s by political prisoners during the regime of Yugoslavian Premier Josip Broz Tito. At it's peak in the 80s and 90s, Oteševo was brimming with life and was home to several hotels, villas and restaurants. Famous Balkan singers made grand entrances via Helicopter, European Champions were crowned in sailing and water sports, and local and foreign tourists filled the beaches from early morning until the break of dawn.
